Friends and colleagues of Martindale, who was a former museum manager, director of the Normandeau Cultural and Natural History Society, as well as Tourism Red Deer, are invited to attend and share their memories.Martindale, who left Red Deer for New Brunswick in 2004, died earlier this summer of cancer.

Lorna Johnson, executive-director of the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery, said Martindale made an impact on Red Deer, and as she had many local friends here, it was decided to hold a local reception in her memory.

Everyone who knew Martindale is invited to attend from 4-6 p.m. at the museum. A memory book is being compiled for Martindale’s partner of 30 years Harvey J. Smith.
