Red Deer Dairy Queens are ready to mix up Blizzard Treats for Miracle Treat Day on Oct. 28.

All proceeds from Blizzard Treats sold during the one-day, national fundraising event will be donated to Children’s Miracle network member hospitals to support children and their families.

Funds raised in Red Deer are split between Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary and Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.

“There is something so special about the Alberta Children’s Hospital because she’s always so excited to go,” said Allison Sparrey about her eight-year-old Lilly Kalmar who receives regular treatment at Alberta Children’s Hospital.

“The doctors, nurses and child life therapists wrap their arms around the entire family, not only caring for your child’s physical illness, but their spirits too. We know that so much of that incredible care is thanks to community support, and we are so grateful for generous donors who make our visits and stays more enjoyable.”

Children’s Miracle Network raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals, 12 of which are in Canada, and hospitals use the money where it’s needed the most.

Established in 1983, the network raises funds to support critical research, education, purchase life-saving equipment, and to ensure excellence in care, to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
