Local youth are encouraged to celebrate International Youth Day.

Ubuntu, a non-profit organization seeking to create justice and equality, will host a youth day event on Aug. 15.

The event, in the Memorial Centre parking lot, will bring local youth together to highlight the importance of youth engagement within the community.

The theme for International Youth Day this year is engagement for global action.

Ubuntu youth council will have speakers, live music, an art workshop and the Red Deer Indigenous Dance Troup.

They are asking attendees to wear an appropriate face covering, as well as to maintain proper social distancing practices.
