More downtown paving coming

Paving crews will cause temporary traffic delays in downtown Red Deer today.

Paving crews will cause temporary traffic delays in downtown Red Deer today.

New pavement is being laid in two phases, scheduled for 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Motorists are advised that the section of Ross Street from 48th to 49th Ave. will be closed for the first phase.

Crews will then move to the section between 47th and 48 Avenues for the second phase.

Motorists will be diverted around those sites while work is in progress.

This type of work is typically done outside of business hours to avoid traffic snarls.

However, this job could not be scheduled during the weekend because of festivals taking place in the city centre.

Public Works technologist Heather Britton said city crews are grateful for the patience and co-operation of motorists passing through the construction area and asked that drivers remember to slow down and take care while passing workers.
