Central Albertans who have speech, language, swallowing and related challenges due to cancer treatment can now receive therapy at the Central Alberta Cancer Centre.
The Alberta Health Services facility recently added a registered speech language pathologist who specializes in cancer-related impairments.
Previously, the service was accessed at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre outpatient department, which will continue to offer the service for non-cancer patients.
The new cancer centre service supplements its existing rehabilitation, which includes physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
