With 30 per cent more exhibitors than last year, there’s a whole lot to check out at the 2023 Red Deer Home Show at Westerner Park this weekend.
The three-day show opened its main doors at the Exhibition Hall on Friday at noon with more than 160 exhibitors ready to greet visitors who were quick to file inside and stroll the aisles lined with builders, renovators, products and decor.
Courtnay Whitehouse, president of BILD Central Alberta which is the host of the show, said the show was busier than usual in the first few hours.
“I think there’s going to be a big turnout,” Whitehouse said.
“It’s always nice to see new things and get some ideas for projects or new homes, or renos or gadgets around the house. Come check it out.”

In addition to all the exhibits in Exhibition Hall and Stockmen’s Pavilion, 10 speakers were scheduled to take to the main stage in the Prairie Pavilion over the weekend to discuss home improvement, interior design, gardening, home construction, home efficiency, and more.
Home show visitors can also tour a tiny home on display by Tree Hugger Tiny Homes.
Whitehouse expects people’s focus on renovations will remain high with the current interest rates, and efficiency will be the issue that dominates home construction in the coming years.

Home show exhibitor Alan McNeil, with the electric bike company Biktrix, said his bikes help riders conserve energy while they are on the move.
“Hills don’t exist anymore. You can get out and get your exercise. Or you can turn the ‘E’ down and get the sweat dripping off your nose whenever you want. It’s the best of both worlds,” said McNeil who had a selection of electric bikes on display.
Shawn Main, owner of Red Deer Lighting, said new lighting is a popular home improvement project, and there’s a lot more variety, texture and colours to choose from when it comes to lighting.
He said lighting manufacturers understand that more people want to inject their personality into their homes, and people are realizing that all it takes is changing a few light fixtures.
