Motorcyclist from Sylvan Lake killed in collision

A 28-year-old Sylvan Lake man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Jasper National Park on Monday.

A 28-year-old Sylvan Lake man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Jasper National Park on Monday.

Jasper RCMP responded to the scene of the two-vehicle collision on the Miette Hot Springs Road around 11:40 a.m.

Police say the truck was travelling near the hot springs when it collided with the motorcycle.

After the motorcycle crossed the centre line on a curved portion of the road, the driver lost control and collided with the oncoming pickup.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not been released.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck did not sustain any injuries.

The collision is under investigation.
