REDCLIFF — A Mountie has shot and wounded a man at an RCMP detachment in southern Alberta.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team says it is investigating the shooting that happened this morning in the town of Redcliff.

It says a man walked into the local detachment and pointed what appeared to be a firearm.

An officer shot and wounded the man and he was taken to hospital.

ASIRT, a provincial unit that investigates the use of force by police, provided no other details.

Redcliff is northwest of Medicine Hat.
