Several Red Deer grocery stores have had positive COVID-19 over the past week.

In an email, Loblaw confirmed that The Real Canadian Superstore on 51 Avenue has four confirmed cases of COVID-19 among staff. The last days of work for the employees who testes positive were Feb. 7 and Feb. 12.

“We have been working closely with local Public Health who has assured us that we have taken all the necessary precautions including sanitization, distancing measures and mandatory masks. The store has also arranged for additional cleaning and the risk remains low for our customers,” Loblaw public relations said in an email statement.

A worker at Sinnott’s Your Independent Grocer, in Clearview Market, also tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 18. The last day the employee worked at the store was Feb. 11.

Safeway on 50th Avenue had a positive COVID-19 case on Feb. 17, and the worker last worked on Feb. 8.

This article incorrectly stated that Sobey’s on 50th avenue had the positive COVID-19 case, when it was in fact the Safeway Port O’Call Mall Safeway.
