The suspect in a shooting incident at Red Deer’s Mustang Acres will enter his plea on April 12.

Hol Dominick Garang, 24, is in custody and appeared briefly by closed-circuit camera in Red Deer Provincial Court on Wednesday. Although he was scheduled to plea to various gun-related charges this week, Garang’s lawyer asked the judge for extra time to prepare.

Garang’s plea date was moved ahead by three weeks, as a result.

He is charged with assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, using a firearm while committing an offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and in prohibition of an order, along with several other charges, including mischief.

The charges stem from an incident on March 7 at the Mustang Acres mobile home park at 68th Street and 59th Avenue.

According to police, two shots from a shotgun were fired from outside the front door of a residence at about 12:50 p.m. While no one was injured, two adults were in the residence at the time. They were known to the suspect, and it was not a random incident.
