The RCMP needs names for the new litter of 10 German shepherd puppies soon to be born at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail.

This year’s annual contest requires male and female names starting with F, of no more than nine letters and of one or two syllables.

Contestants must be 16 or younger and Canadian residents.

Contestants should keep in mind these puppies will be working police dogs, not pets.

The suggested name must be printed on a postcard along with the contestant’s name, age, address and phone number and mailed to Name The Puppy Contest, Police Dog Service Training Centre, Box 6120, Innisfail, AB, T4G 1S8.

Only one name per contestant is allowed, although more than one entry per household is acceptable provided each contestant submits only one name per postcard.

The contest closes on March 22 and winners will be announced on April 16.

The RCMP says names not selected for the contest will be considered for other puppies born this year.
