Undertow – Women I’ve known, a series of mixed media portraits by Susan Delaney, is the newest exhibition presented at the Viewpoint Gallery.

Susan Delaney’s exhibit features a series of acrylic and mixed media portraits on canvas, wood and paper.

In her artist’s statement, Delaney said she finds herself drawn to working with images of people, mostly women in her family of origin, and herself. There is a strong autobiographical theme in this body of work that uses photographic imagery to reflect themes of history and memory.

Delaney said working on the portraits and responding to the finished pieces can be a never-ending experience of discovery, and hopes to evoke a similar soulful current in the mind of the viewer.

The gallery will be open for extended hours until 6:30 p.m. on First Friday, Dec. 3, with the artist in attendance.

The exhibition will be up until Dec. 23.
