Red Deer Hospice Society has announced the arrival of 10 new resident beds, which will help staff provide the best possible end-of-life care.

In 2021, Red Deer Hospice identified a need to replace their original resident beds. With a goal of raising $150,000 to purchase 10 new beds and a wish for a cuddle bed to accommodate loved ones when requested, Red Deer Hospice launched a resident bed campaign seeking donations.

Thanks to community support, the campaign was a success and both goals were quickly met. The new beds arrived at Red Deer Hospice on Wednesday and are already in use in resident rooms.

“Our nursing staff is thrilled,” said Jerri Taylor, Executive Director with the Red Deer Hospice Society.

“They work hard to make residents comfortable while providing care, and these beds will make that easier to achieve.”

Taylor also stated how grateful Red Deer Hospice is to everyone who contributed to their campaign.

“We are so thankful for the strong community support we received from our dedicated donors. They are reason we were able to purchase this much needed equipment and truly make a difference in the comfort of our residents,” said Taylor.
