A new trial for a Hobbema mother accused of beating her infant daughter has been set for June of next year.
Shannon Deschamps, 35, was charged with aggravated assault by Red Deer City RCMP called to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Nov. 29, 2009. Staff at the emergency room were concerned about the injuries to a baby girl who had been brought in for treatment.
Deschamps was scheduled for trial on June 10, but a warrant for her arrest was issued when she did not show up for court.
Arrested in Edmonton, she remains in custody pending the outcome of her new trial, set for judge alone in the Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench from June 17 to 20, 2014.
