New Year’s Day fire in Bowden deemed suspicious: Olds RCMP

A New Year’s Day fire at an abandoned Bowden Hotel has been deemed suspicious, says Olds RCMP.

Firefighters responded to the blaze in the early hours of Jan. 1 – upon arrival, the building was completely engulfed in flames, police said at the time.

On Monday, RCMP announced it had received the fire investigator’s report, which determined the fire was suspicious.

“Police are seeking public assistance in this matter and are asking anyone who may have been in the area and have information regarding this fire, to please come forward,” Olds RCMP said in a release.

“As well, they are looking for people who may have surveillance to check for suspicious activity between 11 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2021, and 12:30 a.m., on Jan. 1, 2022.”
