NOVA Chemicals supported United Way Central Alberta programs in a big way recently.

Last week, the chemicals company, which is headquartered in Calgary and has a plant in Joffre, revealed employees raised $677,000 through their 2021 Virtual Family-Fun Workplace Campaign. Additionally, the company donated $160,000 for COVID-19 recovery.

“Every year, NOVA Chemicals and NOVA Chemicals Joffre employees’ support for the community through their annual United Way Campaign is astonishing,” said Brett Speight, UWCA CEO.

“Their generous support impacts tens of thousands of individuals every year and we could not accomplish the impact we do without their generous support.”

Mark Hodson, vice-president of manufacturing west for NOVA Chemicals, said the COVID-19 pandemic has hurt central Alberta social not-for-profit organizations.

“NOVA Chemicals felt it is critical to support the COVID Recovery Fund through this grant to aid our valued community partners and help make Central Alberta a great place to live,” said Hodson.
