Olds College and Red Deer Polytechnic were recognized with gold and silver awards of excellence from the Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan).
Olds College of Agriculture and Technology won a Gold Award in Applied Research and Innovation Excellence.
As one of Canada’s top 10 research colleges, “Olds College is known for innovative and industry-driven applied research across its 3,600-acre Smart Farm, laying the foundation for solving real-world problems in farming, food and land,” states a release from CICan.
Olds College’s Centre for Innovation, applied research division, supports start-up development and the demonstration of intelligent ag technologies and practices, providing students with real-world learning experiences. It “has the expertise, assets and infrastructure to accelerate the progress and innovation needed to grow Canada’s ag industry,” CICan added.
The Silver Leadership Excellence Award for Non-Managerial Staff was presented to Alicia Cafferata-Arnett of Red Deer Polytechnic. The applied research specialist in RDP’s CIM-Tac (Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing — Technology Access Centre) was recognized for her dedication, innovation and high standards of work.
