An Olds College student was killed after being struck by a train early Tuesday morning.

An Olds College student is dead after being struck by a train early Tuesday morning.

Cody Ghostkeeper, believed to be in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Olds RCMP Const. Steve Bereza said Ghostkeeper was alone when he apparently walked in front of the train at the crossing on 50th Street in downtown Olds around 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Bereza said the train’s safety equipment was working at the time of the incident.

The incident is under investigation.
