Olds Fire Chief Justin Andrew has been keeping people safe for 25 years.

This past Wednesday, the Olds Fire Department and town council presented Andrew with a bronze axe in recognition of 25 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Olds and Mountain View County.

Chief Andrew started his career with the department in October 1996 as a recruit firefighter and progressed through the ranks to fire chief in 2018. During this time, Andrew was promoted from Volunteer Firefighter to Lieutenant and then to Training Officer.

It has been an honour and privilege to serve the community alongside many dedicated men and women over the years, Andrew said, adding he is grateful to the Olds Fire Department for providing the training and opportunities that assisted him in his career path.

He also thanked his wife and family for their support, as well as all the other spouses of firefighters, as their sacrifices are not commonly recognized but are crucial for the service to be successful.

In a news release, the Town of Olds said the fire department is “extremely fortunate” to have members such as Chief Andrew who continue to provide exemplary professional service to the public.
