Occupants of an Olds mobile home escaped uninjured following a fire on Sunday night.

Olds Fire Department got the call about 10:15 p.m. When they arrived, no flames were visible but heavy smoke was pouring out of the mobile home.

“Firefighters initiated an offensive attack and quickly extinguished the fire found in the front portion of the mobile home,” said the department in a news release on Monday. “Despite the lack of fire breakthrough to the exterior of the structure, there was extensive smoke and heat damage to the interior of the home.”

The occupants were at home at the time of the fire but managed to escape. The home was too badly damaged to return to and they were helped by the Canadian Red Cross through their disaster assistance program.

Fourteen firefighters responded to the fire and spent about three hours putting the fire out and taking care of the scene. EMS along, with Fortis and Atco service personnel, also responded.

The cause of the fire, which is not believed to be suspicious, remains under investigation.
