Olds Fire Department was called to the blaze near 44th Street and 55th Avenue around 11 a.m.

Flames and smoke were visible from the detached garage when the call came in.

Two engines, a rescue and ladder truck along with two command units were at the scene. Nineteen volunteer firefighters were on scene for about two hours.

“The fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished in approximately 13 minutes from the time of call,” said Olds Fire Chief Justin Andrew in a news release.

The Olds Fire Department extended its thanks to AHS EMS, Olds RCMP, Olds public works/utilities, Fortis and RW electric for expedient service to assist the owners in mitigating the incident and restoring power to their home in frigid temperatures.
