The Town of Olds went cross country to find a new chief administrator.
Michael Merritt, chief administrative officer for Nova Scotia’s Cape Breton Regional Municipality, will fill the CAO post in Olds beginning May 8, the town announced on Monday.
Merritt also served as chairman of the Port of Sydney Development Corporation and is a former assistant deputy minister in Alberta.
“He possesses the right blend of education and experience for the Town of Olds moving forward,” the municipality says.
Merritt replaces Norm McInnis, who resigned last fall to take the chief administrative officer job with the City of Fernie, B.C. McInnis had been with Olds since 2008.
Interim CAOs have been in the position since.
