Three people were arrested after Olds RCMP executed a search warrant earlier this week.

Police executed the warrant on a residence located near 51 Street and 61 Avenue in Olds at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

RCMP had received information of possible drug dealing at the residence and further investigation led to the authorization of the warrant.

Two males and one female were arrested at the location. Several cell phones, weapons and a variety of suspected drugs, including what is believed to be methamphetamine, were seized.

A 32-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, both from Olds, were charged with having possession of a controlled substance. They are scheduled to attend Didsbury Provincial Court Oct. 5.

Charles Benson Schmidt, 45, of Olds, has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of failing to abide by his previous release order conditions. He was held in custody for a judicial hearing and was later released on a $1,000 no cash deposit to appear on July 13 at Didsbury Provincial Court.

Schmidt had previously been charged with several offences as a result of a search warrant executed by the Olds RCMP at the same residence on Feb. 13. On that matter he is still facing 17 charges including being in possession of controlled substances, weapons and stolen property.

The RCMP are continuing the investigation into this incident and are asking the public to come forward with any information related to these incidents. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Olds RCMP at 403-556-3323 or your local police service.
