An Olds senior is facing charges after being accused of showing a child a naked picture of himself at a town playground.

Olds RCMP said they arrested a suspect on Monday in connection with an incident that happened during the late summer. Besides showing the photo, the suspect allegedly made sexual comments to the child.

The incident was not reported to police until October. Following the suspect’s arrest, officers searched his residence the next day and seized “what is believed to be offence-related property,” said police Wednesday.

Terry Haskell, 67, has been charged with making sexually explicit material available to a child and exposure of his genitals to a child for a sexual purpose.

After a bail hearing, Haskell was released on the condition he stay at least 10 metres away from any swimming pool, day care centre, school ground, playground or community centre.

He is also prohibited from possessing any portable electronic devices capable of capturing images outside his home, and prohibited from being in the presence of anyone under the age of 16, unless they are in the presence of a responsible adult.

He is due in Didsbury provincial court on Monday.

RCMP are continuing their investigation and are asking the public to come forward with any similar type incidents in the Olds area.
