Olds students are attending UNESCO sustainability conference in Toronto

Five high school students from Olds are in Toronto this week at a UNESCO student conference on sustainability.

Ashton Bird, Keianna Aubin, Lorelai Smith, Shelby Schekk and Ross Saddlemyer from Olds High School are among 200 students from across Canada at the three-day national conference on sustainable development goals and climate change.

Participating teenagers were invited based on expressed interest, and will be tasked with creating a project to create a positive change in their community on their return.

UNESCO stands for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. École Olds High School has been a UNESCO-affiliated school for 19 years. The non -profit is working with associated schools to “educate students on issues related to UNESCO’s overarching goals of promoting peace and international understanding.”
