Olymel plant in Red Deer has five active COVID-19 cases

Alberta Health confirmed a small outbreak of COVID-19 at the Olymel meat processing plant in Red Deer.

As of Wednesday, the plant has five active cases of the virus. Since the outbreak was declared on Sept. 2, the plant has had 15 cases, nine of which are recovered.

The plant has more than 1,850 employees.

Last February, Olymel was linked to nearly 500 cases of COVID-19.
