One driver was killed and another seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision north of Rocky Mountain House on Wednesday.
Rocky Mountain House RCMP said they were called to the collision involving two pickup trucks and a semi shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 22 and Echo Canyon Drive, about 10 kilometres north of the town.
Police said the crash happened after a northbound pickup stopped to turn east on to Echo Canyon Drive. A second pickup ran into the back of the stopped pickup.
A southbound semi then collided with the first pickup, killing the 34-year-old driver.
The 24-year-old driver of the second pickup was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The semi truck driver was not injured.
Traffic was diverted on the highway for several hours, while the RCMP collision reconstruction expert conducted an examination.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
