Alberta Health Services is looking to help parents who battle with picky eaters.

The free, online workshop called “Goodbye Mealtime Struggles” offers tips and support for parents who face this struggle.

The class is an online version of AHS’ Goodbye Mealtime Struggles workshops, which are offered regularly in communities across AHS Central Zone.

Led by a registered dietitian and a pediatric occupational therapist, the workshop helps parents learn how to overcome mealtime conflicts with children from one to five years of age.

Over the course of the two-hour workshop, discussions focus on the growing and developing eating skills of children, exploring the reasons behind mealtime struggles, the importance of setting a consistent mealtime routine, portion sizes and how to introduce healthy new foods.

Parents will learn a number of strategies to take to their own dinner tables and will also have the opportunity to connect online with other parents facing similar mealtime struggles.

The online session will be offered via Zoom on March 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and April 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
