People who dream of winning a brand new home in Red Deer have until 11 p.m. on Monday to get their Red Deer Hospital Lottery tickets.

And the lucky winner will only have to wait until June 30 for their ticket to be drawn.

Manon Therriault, CEO of the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation, said ticket sales are actually doing very well compared to some of the other lotteries in Alberta.

“We’re really grateful that’s the case given that unexpected living expenses have creeped up over the last few months. We’re grateful to see that people are continuing to support our lottery and our hospital,” Therriault said on Friday.

There are a total of 120 prizes to be won in the Red Deer Hospital Lottery, valued at more than $1.1 million.

Located at 145 Emerald Drive in Evergreen, the dream home built by Sorento Custom Homes has the charm of a beach house with the sophistication of city living. Valued at $940,332, the bungalow features 2,994 square feet of developed living space.

The home has three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, and a large flex room on the lower level next to the family room. There’s also a large sundeck off the dining room and a kitchen that aims to please every foodie.

Furnishings by Urban Barn are included in the prize, plus $10,000 cash.

Therriault said visitors to the house appreciate the natural materials, like the stone, incorporated into the design, and are intrigued by the downstairs craft room.

The house also backs onto a protected greenspace so residents will always have that beautiful view, she said.

The dream home is open Saturday and Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m.

As of Friday afternoon, the Mega Bucks 50 jackpot was at $635,770, and the winner takes half.

Over the last 23 years, the lottery has raised over $10 million to provide equipment to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

Proceeds from the 2022 lottery and Mega Bucks 50 will fund about 83 pieces of critically needed equipment for several units at the hospital — equipment that could result in services being cancelled or delayed if they broke and were not replaced.

Therriault said as of Thursday, ticket sales have paid for 68 pieces of equipment, and hopefully weekend sales will fund the rest.
