Ontario man on Canada wide warrant arrested in Ponoka

Suspect charged with sexual assault charges

Ponoka RCMP have arrested a suspect wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for sexual assault charges.

On Feb. 7, Ponoka RCMP received information on the whereabouts of a man wanted on Canada-wide warrant for offences that he committed in Ontario.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the officers along with Ponoka General Investigations Unit and the Ponoka Integrated Traffic Unit descended on a residence in Ponoka and arrested the suspect.

Daniel Sanchie, 36, of Dryden, Ont., was sought for three charges of sexual assault and sexual interface and two charges of assault.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will be transported back to Ontario where he will appear in court to answer to the charges against him.

Ponoka RCMP thank the public for providing information to the police.
