Ten Red Deer artists will be demonstrating their creative processes during the Red Deer Arts Council’s 2022 Open Studio Tour.
On Sept. 10 and 11, local artists will be welcoming people into their home studios. Visitors will see the participating painters, drawers and printmakers at work on the craft that they have mastered.
This year’s list of creators are: acrylic and ink artist Amanda Frost, painter/encaustic artist Barb Hanson, impressionistic plein air painter Carol Lynn Gilchrist, thematic graphite artist E.M. Alysse Bowd, landscape and abstract artist Kelvin Christensen, printmaker/drawer Jewel Shaw, abstract and collage artist Margriet Hogue, painter Marianne Harris, mixed-media/painter Susan Delaney and glass bead-maker/painter Wendy Meeres.
Everything from beadmaking to ink work, paintings and collage will be demonstrated at their studios.
Six of the artists will be opening their spaces on both days and the other four will be available on either Saturday or Sunday.
Those who visit all 10 artists and get stamps in their “passport” will be entered into a prize draw.
This is the first Open Studio Tour since 2019 as there were no tours due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The event was started in 2016 as a way of connecting members of the public to the local arts scene and opening a window into the creative process.
