Sunday will be the last day for all outdoor rinks for this season in the City of Red Deer.

The city announced the closure due to spring-like temperatures.

Signage will be placed advising the public to stay off the ice.

The ice oval at Setters Place will also put a cap on their first official season on Friday. Deb Comfort, neighbourhood facilities and sport supervisor says, “after a very successful outdoor ice oval season, Setters Place at Great Chief Park will be transitioning back to a sport field. With several Canada Winter Games long track speed skating records set at Great Chief Park this past season, we are already looking forward to next winter. Now it is time to let the ice melt and transition back to our summer season for football, soccer and rugby.”
