The owner of a roofing company will be sentenced in February after a guilty plea was entered to a single charge in Red Deer provincial court Wednesday.

John Kushniruk, 37, and Road Runner Roofing Inc., will be sentenced Feb. 17 on the charge laid under the Fair Trades Act.

A solution was worked out between the Crown and defence for the accused and the company which faced 37 charges each.

The bulk of the charges are expected to be withdrawn once sentencing is complete.

They involved 36 counts failing to refund money and engaging in a business without a licence.

About 17 people are alleged to have been victimized losing thousands of dollars in the process.

The charges were all laid on Feb. 29, 2008, following an investigation by an officer with the Red Deer branch of the Department of Government Services.
