A package at the Bashaw post office on Wednesday was deemed non-suspicious after the RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) Team was called in.
RCMP and Bashaw fire personnel responded to a complaint of a suspicious package containing an unknown substance at about 10:30 a.m. The post office was evacuated and the office closed while the package was secured.
Anyone present or in contact with the package was assessed and cleared by Bashaw EMS.
As a precaution, the CLEAR Team was called to remove and identify the package and the substance within it. After a few hours it was determined the package wasn’t suspicious.
Bashaw is located approximately 90 km northeast of Red Deer.
