EDMONTON — A former pastor at a church west of Edmonton has been charged with child luring.

RCMP and Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams say last May the parents of a 15-year-old girl discovered inappropriate texts messages on her phone.

Police say the texts were believed to be from an adult male that was known to the family through the Meewasin Free Methodist Church in Duffield, Alta., about 65 kilometres west of Edmonton.

Police say the man was the pastor at the church at the time of the alleged offences but was removed from his position shortly after the allegation came forward.

Glenn Harvey Boyde, who is 59, was charged on Monday and is scheduled to appear in court in Stony Plain on March 30.
