Red Deer RCMP are looking for a suspect after a hit and run left a peace officer with “serious but non-life threatening injuries.”

At about noon on Saturday, police were called to a collision involving a peace officer’s vehicle and an SUV.

The SUV was travelling on 60 Street and 58 Avenue, when it veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the peace officer.

The male suspect, and lone occupant of the SUV, fled the scene on foot and is still at large.

The peace officer was extracted from her vehicle by the Red Deer Fire Department and transported to hospital.

Police say the SUV, a black Jeep Cherokee, was stolen.

The suspect is described as white and about six feet tall, with short black hair in a mohawk style. He was wearing a black coat and black pants.

Anyone with information or video footage of the incident is asked to contact Red Deer RCMP at 403-406-2300.
