Penhold announces date for byelection

A byelection has been set for Sept. 6 to fill a vacant seat on Penhold town council.

Long-time Penhold councillor Mike Walsh announced his resignation in June to pursue a new career in Southern Alberta.

Nomination packages are available at the town office. The deadline for completed nominations packages to be submitted is August 9 at 12 p.m. Packages will be accepted in council chambers.

A candidates forum has tentatively been set for August 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Penhold & District Library.

Residents can vote on Byelection Day on Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Penhold Regional Multiplex.

The successful candidate will be unofficially announced after the poll closes on Sept. 6. Official results will be posted Sept. 10 at noon.
