A major event held in the Town of Penhold is set to return this upcoming weekend.

The Penhold Fall Festival will be held outdoors at the town’s Multiplex Friday and Saturday after a two-year hiatus, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Mike Yargeau’s Mini Marathon for a Cause will kickstart the two-day festival at 6 p.m. on Friday.

“I am excited about the new Mayor’s Mini Marathon because it will be a really fun way to raise money within Penhold,” Yargeau says on the town website.

“The proceeds from this year’s marathon will be going to the Penhold Elementary School Parent Advisory Council for their new playground development.

“The run is meant to be a fun time, it’s only 500m and there will be a Golden Mini Donut Hydration Station at the midway point and a retro costume contest for the participants.”

Two other events will also begin at 6 p.m. that day: the Craft Beer, Wine and Spirits Festival will run until 10 p.m. at the Multiplex, and the Ma and Pa’s Bakery Café Show and Shine will run until 9 p.m.

Additionally, there will be food trucks starting at 6 p.m. during day one of the Fall Festival.

Those running in the mini marathon, which has a $25 registration fee, will receive free admission to the Craft Beer, Wine and Spirits Festival, where there will be over 20 local breweries, wineries and distilleries featured.

The Community TIES Pancake Breakfast will kick off day two – the event runs from 8-10 a.m. at Memorial Hall.

The Fall Festival Parade will then take place at 11 a.m., which will be followed by activities and an outdoor vendor market at the Multiplex. There will be food trucks and a barbecue at the Penhold Museum from 1-5 p.m.

The parade will have prizes awarded for Best Commercial Entry, Best Community Group / Personal entry and Judges Choice.

This year’s parade theme is Strong Hearts Building Strong Communities. Logan Windebank, the inaugural winner of the Mayor’s Youth Recognition Award, will serve as the honorary parade marshal this year.

The festival will end with fireworks at 9 p.m. on Saturday.
