The Penhold Fire Department now has oxygen masks that will help pets during structure fires.

They received a kit of small, medium and large pet oxygen masks from Invisible Fence of Western Canada, which are designed to be used when trying to revive pets that have been trapped in a fire.

“This will help us greatly as the oxygen masks that we use do not adapt well to pets,” said Penhold Fire Department medical officer Justin Graham.

The masks came to the department as a part of the Project Breath program from Invisible Fence in an effort to ensure that every fire department and rescue unit has a life-saving kit of pet oxygen masks.

Through the project, they have donated nearly 180 masks to fire departments in Alberta.
