Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau has been elected to the board of directors with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

“I take great pride in my role as mayor and I am very much looking forward to advancing the needs of Alberta’s municipal governments alongside officials from all over Canada,” Yargeau said in a statement.

FCM brings together nearly 2,000 municipalities of all sizes, representing more than 90 percent of Canadians.

Yargeau will be representing urban cities, towns, villages and certain specialized municipalities for a one-year term.

“Alberta has so much to offer FCM and we need leaders who want to work with Canadians from all over. There is so much that unites us as Canadians and if the last year has taught us anything, we need to focus on that and work together to create solutions to the problems that we all face.”

Yargeau was elected by fellow municipal leaders from across the province to represent Alberta on the board of directors.
