The town of Penhold will be doing more work on the new community hub development.

The town is developing ball diamonds, building a concession, washrooms, a common area, adding trails and improving a skate park in a project to create a community recreational hub near the Penhold Regional Multiplex.

“We have been envisioning the Community Hub for many years. To see the growth of the amenities available for residents and visitors alongside the growth in Penhold as a community is very exciting,” said Mayor Mike Yargeau.

This project, to expand Penhold’s recreation space even further, has been made possible by a donation from Stewart and Eileen Ford, a long-standing local family, as well as an investment of $490,000 from the Government of Canada through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF).

“The Community Hub has been designed to align with our vision to include space in Penhold, enhancing the qaulity of life and wellbeing while providing multiple social opportunities for residents and visitors,” Yargeau said.

“With the expansion of trails, a common area to host events, and the addition of a second ball diamond, we expect to draw visitors from all over central Alberta. We are grateful to Mr. & Mrs. Ford and the Government of Canada for helping us achieve our vision.”
