A squirrel feeds on a sunflower seed from inside a bird feeder at the Red Deer Cemetery on Thursday. It and others of its ingenious rodent brethren nibbled a hole through the top so they could get to the seed within. This winter turned out to be an easier one for animals of all sorts as Environment Canada reported the winter was the warmest on record in 63 years, with average temperatures in December through February four degrees higher than normal. It was also unusually dry, with precipitation levels about 22 per cent lower than normal on average.
