Person killed in collision, say Wetaskiwin RCMP

Wetaskiwin RCMP are investigating after a person was killed in a collision Friday afternoon.

Police say they received a report of the crash, between a semi-truck and a 2007 Ford Focus, at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 814 at 2:20 p.m.

The Ford Focus was travelling eastbound on Highway 13 and attempted to turn north onto Highway 814 when it collided with the semi-truck, which was heading westbound on Highway 13.

The 22-year-old passenger of the car was dead at the scene. The driver was taken to hospital and later released. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Traffic was re-routed for about two hours while police investigated.
