Conservative party candidate Peter MacKay will stop by central Alberta on Wednesday.

A Facebook event page states the former Conservative cabinet minister and former Progressive Conservative leader will pass through central Alberta and stop at Glenn’s Family Restaurant in Gasoline Alley.

The meet and greet is hosted by Red Deer-Lacombe MP Blaine Calkins and is set for 11:45 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.

The longtime Nova Scotia MP, who now lives in Toronto, is in the race with Erin O’Toole, a former Conservative cabinet minister and current MP from the Toronto-area riding of Durham, according to the party website.

Others who have announced their intention to run include Rick Peterson, an Alberta businessman; Aron Seal, an entrepreneur, strategy consultant and political adviser; Derek Sloan, MP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington in Ontario; and Richard Decarie, a Conservative from Quebec.

The only woman in contention so far is Ontario MP Marilyn Gladu.
