Weekend temperatures hit 24 C, creating perfect conditions for Red Deer residents who wanted to get a little sun after a long, cold winter.

MacKenzie Boutestein and Melissa Yourex were sunning themselves at Discovery Canyon on Saturday, creating an odd juxtaposition against the glacial snowpack still evident on the other side of the pond. It was a jarring reminder that winter is not long over.

Unfortunately this warmth will not last, with temperatures forecast to fall to 13 C by Wednesday and 9 C by Friday — just in time for the long weekend.
