The Canadian Taxpayers Federation and Rally 4 Resources are hosting a pipeline rally and barbecue in City Hall Park starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Franco Terrazzano, Alberta director with the federation, said it will be their final rally in a cross-Canada tour that started in Ottawa on May 24.

“We went on a tour showing all Canadian taxpayers how much money they’re losing because of a lack of pipeline capacity. We’ve gone to every single province,” Terrazzano said.

He said the country has lost more than $6 billion in government revenue since 2013 because of the energy bottleneck.

“A lot of Canadians we were speaking to were surprised by how much government revenue we’re losing out on.

“That’s billions of dollars that could be used to build more hospitals, to hire more teachers and to lower taxes. In Alberta, a lot of us understand the importance of pipelines when it comes to jobs and the economy.”
