A Monday morning home invasion led police to a Red Deer residence and the arrest of five suspects.

RCMP said while investigating the home invasion, they determined suspects could be found in Red Deer.

Shortly after noon, Red Deer RCMP requested an administrative lockdown at Eastview Middle School at 3929 40th Ave. as police investigated a home in the area where the suspects may have been armed.

Stretches of 39th Street and 44th Avenue were also closed.

At 1:10 p.m., police said they had arrested the suspects without incident. An RCMP dog team was called in to assist in clearing the residence.

Students were in no danger and the lockdown was lifted and roads reopened about 1:20 p.m.

Red Deer RCMP’s general investigative section is working with Innisfail RCMP on the case.

Police said more information will be released as the investigation unfolds.
