Police charge additional suspect in April homicide on Ermineskin Cree Nation

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has charged a third suspect for a murder on Ermineskin Cree Nation in April.

Kris Tyrell Rain, 23, of Samson Cree Nation, has been arrested and has been charged with second degree murder in the death of Albert Dean Wildcat.

Following a judicial hearing, Rain was remanded into custody and he is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on June 1.

On April 11, 2021, at 6:19 a.m., Maskwacis RCMP responded to a call of a stabbing at a residence on Ermineskin Cree Nation.

RCMP attended along with emergency medical services, who treated the 51-year-old Wildcat who had suffered injuries at the residence and was taken to hospital for treatment. Further investigation indicated a home invasion had allegedly occurred when a number of suspects forcibly entered a residence on Ermineskin Cree Nation. During the home invasion, Wildcat was injured. He died in hospital on April 15.

On April 22, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit charged two other suspects – Leon Clark Ermineskin, 25 and Justin James Larocque, 33 — both of Ermineskin Cree Nation for second degree murder.
