RCMP find urn with ashes along bank of Red Deer River

Red Deer RCMP are looking for the next of kin of a man with the last name Severight, whose ashes were located along the banks of the Red Deer River.

Police found an urn, a black plastic box featuring a tag embossed with “Hainstock 14300,” with ashes along the walking path on the north side of the Red Deer River on Riverside Drive on May 13.

RCMP worked with the Hainstock Funeral Home and Crematorium in Edmonton, where the urn was from, but they haven’t been able to contact the next of kin on file.

The ashes belong to a man who died in 2017.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575 or a local police detachment.
