RCMP are seeking the public’s help in tracking down a hit-and-run driver who sped off in a pickup after colliding with the side of a tractor trailer carrying liquid nitrogen.

The incident happened on Wednesday at 11:45 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy 2 and Hwy 11. The Innisfail RCMP traffic unit reports that a pickup truck, attempting to merge into the southbound lanes of Hwy 2 from the Hwy 11 overpass, hit the passenger side of a trailer pulled by a semi tractor unit.

The collision caused some damage to the trailer but no liquid nitrogen was released.

The pickup truck briefly slowed before leaving the accident scene at high speed. The suspect vehicle is described as a white one-ton pickup with an Alberta licence plate with the first three letters of BBW.

The pickup should have significant damage on its left front driver’s side.

Anyone with information on the collision is asked to call the Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-3342.
